Music Lessons

My lessons focus on teaching parents and their children to make music that speaks to them. By incorporating improvisation, musical games, and repertoire that is largely student selected, I keep lessons engaging and relevant to my students’ lives. I do not demand hours of practice, just engagement and a willingness to play! I think the primary focus of a musical education should be to foster the ability to express the ineffable on one’s instrument and have fun playing with others.

Check out the above video to see one of my alto sax students wailing during one of his in-home lessons. Since this video was taken he has moved on to playing drums, and I now help him and his brother (who plays electric guitar) learn their favorite 60’s surf songs, Green Day tunes, and make their own original music.

The Instruments I teach include: saxophone, clarinet, flute, ukulele, and guitar.
